Description:

The Berlin Double Strike Krugerrand set combines a 100 mint mark 1oz Krugerrands and a 100 crown size medallions from the original limited edition of the Krugerrand Launch Sets issued in 2006 and 2010. The SA Mint certifies that both proof quality mint mark 1oz Krugerrands and both medallions are struck in Berlin at the Staatliche Berlin (Berlin State Mint), hence this set is referred to as "The Double Strike Krugerrand Set". The launches took place at the Berlin Mint where the mint mark Krugerrands and the commemorative medallions were struck.

Although permission had been granted to build a mint in Pretoria for the Boer Republiek (ZAR), President Paul Kruger, who was in the middle of a re-election campaign, hurriedly arranged for the ZAR's new coinage to be designed and  manufactured at the Imperial Mint in Germany so that the first issue could be ready in 1892 in time for the elections.
