THE RIVONIA 10
PROOF GOLD
1/2 OZ MEDALLION
IN GREY METAL BOX WITH CERTIFICATE
The Rivonia Trial was named after Rivonia, the suburb of Johannesburg where leaders had been arrested (and documents discovered) at Liliesleaf Farm, privately owned by Arthur Goldreich, on 11 July 1963. The farm had been used as a hideout for the African National Congress and others. Among the eventual 10 defendants, Nelson Mandela had also moved onto the farm in October 1961 and evaded security police while masquerading as a gardener and cook called David Motsamayi (meaning "the walker"). The 10 defendants were: Nelson Mandela, Walter Sisulu, Denis Goldberg, Govan Mbeki, Ahmed Kathrada, Lionel Burnstein, Raymond Mhlaba, James Kantor, Elias Motsoaledi and Andrew Mlangeni

HOPE
PROOF GOLD
1/2 OZ MEDALLION
IN A ROUND WOODEN BOX WITH CERTIFICATE
Nelson Mandela has said that, during his imprisonment on Robben Island, he and fellow inmates would spend much time looking at the silhouette of Table Mountain. He said, “To us on Robben Island, Table Mountain was a beacon of hope. It represented the mainland to which we knew we would one day return.” These days, Robben Island is no longer a prison and, as a World Heritage Site and museum, it reminds the local and international public of the turbulent past South Africa has overcome. images are generic - composite image strictly copyright of Randburg Coin ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ A FINE GOLD OFFER NOW AT A REMARKABLY LOW MANDELA 100 YEAR CENTENARY PRICE

This is an edited version of ANC president and South African Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa’s speech at the Grand Parade in Cape Town at the Nelson Mandela Centenary Celebrations on Sunday 11 February 2018.
We have chosen to launch the centenary celebrations here on the Grand Parade in the city of Cape Town, because it was here that Madiba spoke his first words to the South African people after 27 years in prison.
He spoke here, not as a prophet, but as a humble servant of you, the people. It was here that he declared that our march to freedom was irreversible. That day will forever remain etched in our collective memory as a moment of great joy and great hope. For all of us as South Africans, it was a new beginning. Source: Daily Maverick

Let us build the future together, and toast a better life for all South Africans. Author: Nelson Mandela
An excerpt from Nelson Mandela's Election Victory speech
Speech by President Nelson Mandela announcing the Election Victory
2 May 1994, Pretoria
Let our celebrations be in keeping with the mood set in the elections, peaceful, respectful and disciplined, showing we are a people ready to assume the responsibilities of government.
I promise that I will do my best to be worthy of the faith and confidence you have placed in me and my organisation, the African National Congress. Let us build the future together, and toast a better life for all South Africans. Thus, I just want to say that in some areas we may not have done as well as we hoped. But that is how democracy functions. There should be no tensions in any region in which we have not emerged as a majority party. But now this is the time to heal old wounds and to build a new South Africa ’.
In South Africa the challenges are as stark as they are real. The recently compiled School Register of Needs provides us with hard and cold facts. The majority of our children, especially in rural provinces, still either do not have access to basic education or depend on institutions that lack the teaching media and equipment needed for effective learning and teaching.
