"Madiba Collectors Set"

The "Madiba Collectors Set" was specially compiled for the South African Mint Company's Auction which took place on the 17th of May 2007. Only 25 of these sets were issued.

The Set was named the "Madiba Collector's Set" as it consists of numismatic products which pay tribute to former President Nelson Mandela. In South Africa he is often known as "Madiba", an honorary title adopted by elders of the Mandela clan. This title became synonymous with Nelson Mandela.

The bronze medallion celebrates the Presidential Inauguration of  Mr N R Mandela and was issued in 1994. The proof like R5 circulation coin was issued in 2000 after the completion of his presidential term. In 2004 South Africa celebrated its "10 Years of Freedom" and Mr N R Mandela was depicted on the pure gold R25 (1oz) Protea coin in recognition of his contribution.

The logo designed for the "10 Years of Freedom" celebration features as the mint mark on the R 25 (1 oz) Protea coin. This set is a unique  collection of the medallion and coins featuring Mr N R Mandela which was created by the S A Mint Company between 1994 and 2004.
