 ----------------------------------------------------------------Description:

1. SOUTH AFRICAN COINS AND PATTERNS 2017/18 - BRIAN HERN
No short cuts have been used to compile this catalogue - clear images of the coins have been scanned and photographed. Mintage figures have been included with accepted figures, though some may be disputed. Supply and demand will always determine market prices and values of coins. All figures must be used as a price guide only.

2. SOUTHERN AFRICAN TOKENS - BRIAN HERN
Extensive collections have been sourced to obtain imagery and to scan these tokens. Brian used information supplied by many interesting people. Included are many new listings as well. Prices can be contentious as we see auction prices worldwide and locally, and have used them to establish pricing for the catalogue.

3. ZUID AFRIKAANSCHE REPUBLIEK AND THE ANGLO BOER WAR MEDALS - BRIAN HERN
South Africa is blessed with a very rich numismatic heritage. We have a wonderful array of fascinating coins, banknotes, tokens and military medals, all illustrating significant and fascinating events in our often turbulent history, but none more so than our wonderful Commemorative Medallion Series. Of particular note are those struck in a variety of countries that commemorated the Anglo-Boer war, which was described, at the time, as "the most significant event of the age"

4. SOUTH AFRICAN BANKNOTES AND PAPERMONEY OF THE PRE RESERVE BANK - BRIAN HERN
This catalogue attempts to cover one of the most difficult subjects of South African history. Details of artists and engravers, unfortunately, in most cases are unavailable and are best left to someone who has the time to delve more deeply into the history of the individual printers. Since most of these notes were printed in the United Kingdom (with some in Holland), the person would have to be based in Europe. The issues can be separated into various types namely, small private banks, large Imperial banks, the Government issues, the Anglo-Boer War issues, and the "good-for's"

5. HISTORY OF THE NICKEL COINS OF SOUTH AFRICA - FRANCOIS MALAN - (signed copy)
The nickel coin series (also known as the Second Decimal Series by coin collectors) is currently the "Cinderella" series of South African Numismatics. In spite of the extreme rarity of the coins, they currently do not command the very high prices fetched by the more glamorous coins, such as the 1931 tickey. This book tells about the die-sinkers, the artists and the old Pretoria Mint in Visagie Street, informative and fascinating

6. Z A R COIN PIECES OF ORIGINAL ART - RAY LEPPAN
As those of you who are fellow collectors are well aware, one always relies on the knowledge of others and especially their enthusiasm to "colour" and even "fuel" our collecting passion. Close-up photography not only makes them accessible to a wider audience, but provides an unique opportunity to appreciate the fine craftsmanship.

7. TIMELESS VALUE - DESK LINK
The South African Mint is one of the worls's leading mints and over the years has earned a worldwide reputation for its appealing designs, exceptional craftsmanship and the high standard of its quality coins , winning numerous international awards in the process.

8. KRUGERRAND GOLDEN JUBILEE - FRANCOIS MALAN - (signed copy)
This book marks the 50th Anniversary (1967-2017) of the Krugerrand, the world's most traded bullion coin. Buyers of this iconic coin range from ordinary folk with just one precious coin, to larger-scale investors and members of numismatic communities across the globe. Professor Malan's book traces the history of the Krugerrand, a history that pre dates the striking of the first coin in 1967. It is a history that is intertiwined with wars, early coinage, legends, and the changing role of gold in the global economy.

9. KRUGER'S BLUEBACKS - EVERHARD VISSERS
PAPER CURRENCY ISSUED BY THE ZUID AFRIKAANSCHE REPUBLIEK
DURING THE BOER WAR 1899-1902
This book would not have been written if it weren't for the many contributions, suggestions and comments provided by fellow collectors, dealers research organisations and museum staff. The ZAR Noot as collection item became popular posthumously and not as intended. Repatriating soldiers offered Bluebacks as souvenirs to mothers and sweethearts, and residents of the former Republics held onto a few examples in remembrance of the struggle or as a reminder of unpaid debts. These Noten often found their way into banknote collections, in some instances with their back-sides still firmly stuck to a Victorian scrapbook page. Social and cultural changes in South Africa left many South Africans, including well-heeled expats, nostalgic for a relic of their past.
