The year 2000 revealed great numismatic issues.

The R5 was first issued with the old Coat of Arms. During December 2000 a new Coat of Arms was introduced, a Nelson Mandela coin was issued and the "CW" mintmark appeared on the proof R5 coins struck on "Oom Paul" in Coin World at the South African Mint

Four different coins were therefore minted in 2000. Such an occurence is rare and is unlikely to be repeated. The South African Mint only issued twenty limited edition Historic R5 Coin Sets.
