Description:

Occasion: The Krugergenootschap, started a fund in Pretoria in June 1954, and the Johannesburg fund under the chairmanship of the Mayor, Councillor C J H Patmore, followed. The object was to provide £ 22 000 for the moving of the Kruger Statue to Church Square, and £ 15 000 for the Voortrekker tapestry fund. The tapestry was to depict the story of the Great Trek. These medals were sold at £ 100 each to raise these funds at the time
