The designs were done by various artists, the obverse of the Lion coins was designed by Susan Erasmus, and the reverse by Johan Steyn. The Rhino and Elephant obverse designed by Arthur Sutherland and reverse by Brian Hartland. The Buffalo obverse and reverse by Arthur Sutherland and lastly the Leopard obverse designed by Arthur Sutherland and the reverse by Johan Steyn.
