Description:
In a letter to the Secretary of the Treasury on 30th March 1967, Koos  Groenewald mentioned that it was considered as early as 1964 that the State President be used on one of the coins in the year after retirement or death.
Regarding the die-sinkers of the State President coins, Tommy Sasseen had resigned from the SA Mint by 1975 and he therefore only designed the H F Verwoerd, C R Swart and T E Dönges coins.
