------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Details: 1/2 oz Metal: Au 999.9 Weight: 15.553 grams Diameter: 27.00 mm Description: The BIG FIVE have been depicted since 1994. South Africa has an abundance of protected wildlife and nature reserves. In the Natura series, the Elephant was the third of the Natura coin series, introduced in 1996 as a unique collection of Africa's Big Five. The Elephant designs were based upon an amazing Elephant bull called Mandleve, (Shangaan, an African language, meaning "the one with the torn ear") and his descendants. He was easily identified by his torn ear and was well respected by both animals and humans alike, during his lifetime. Mandleve died of natural causes in 1993 at the approximate age of 65, a few kilometres from Sabi Sabi River Lodge, Mpumulanga, South Africa. Heavier than any of the original "Magnificent Seven" elephants found in the Southern African region. Mandleve will always remain a legend in elephant folklore and a magnificent example of a truly great :Tusker". ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ TO RESERVE: Call Randburg Coin Now (011) 789-2233 or (011) 789 -2234 Or email us by clicking on > This email address is being protected from spambots.
